10th Anniversary of The Gifts of Imperfection - Brene Brown

One of my favorite books by Brene Brown, The Gift of Imperfection, celebrates it's tenth anniversary! This short interview with Brene reminds me of why now, more than ever, these themes are so pertinent. With a country so divided and tensions running high, it is an important time to "do the work," to look inward, and to care for ourselves. "Whole hearted living in a process," she states, acknowledging that "doing the work" requires patience, practice, and persistence. One quote from the video stands out to me, Brene states, "I'm not here to be right, I am here to get it right." To me, that quote speaks to the theme of self-compassion acknowledging that we are all imperfect. When we feel backed into a corner we may not show up in the ways that we want to, however, we have the capacity to acknowledge and take responsibility for our behavior. We also have the capacity to, "learn and unlearn" as she puts it. Which reminds me of an old saying I heard once, "When you lose, don't lose the lesson."

I would love to hear any comments or thoughts on the video and/or the book.
